A monorepo is a single version control repository which holds the code for multiple distinct projects, such as several sites, applications, shared packages or services. Each project may still be built and deployed independently.
Monorepos can make it easier to share code, keep dependencies consistent and make changes across several projects at once, often with the help of workspace and build tools. A monorepo describes how code is organized and is not the same as a monolith, which describes how an application is architected.
